MiTek Industries Manufactures Network Security StrategyReports No Viruses since Deploying Cymtec Sentry, Cymtec ScoutFebruary 25, 2008
St. Louis, MO – February 25, 2008 – Cymtec Systems, Inc. announced that MiTek Industries has made Cymtec Sentry® and Cymtec Scout® cornerstones of their network security and business continuity strategy.
MiTek is the world's leading supplier of state-of-the-art engineered products and services for the building components industry. With operations on five continents, the company remains close to every customer with products, design software and engineering support service. MiTek is committed to providing customers with Total Solutions and individualized attention.
Stan Gaston, Sr. LAN Administrator, at MiTek Industries, said, "No other appliances on the market do what Cymtec Systems products can do. The products have made my job easier, and we have not had a virus on our network since we deployed. They let us support more offices and users for less money."
MiTek has been using Cymtec Scout for more than three years to protect network security and business continuity at six sites, as well as at SOHO locations. Gaston explained, “Network security could consume 40 hours a week just to keep the databases up and running. With Cymtec Scout, it takes an hour a month. It’s amazing that such a simple solution is so effective. Cymtec Systems maintains the database, and I choose to be alerted when I want to. You can configure Cymtec Scout to alert based on certain criteria. I don’t have a lot of hours to spend sifting through logs trying to figure out what’s happening.”
MiTek has deployed over 30 Cymtec Sentry devices and expects to deploy 40 of the appliances to cover all regional and international locations. “Cymtec Sentry meets our needs,” said Gaston. “It is inline with no latency. It lets authorized traffic through, without allowing any bad traffic to propagate.”
An addition benefit of deploying Cymtec Sentry is the ability to see network congestion and how much traffic passes through at one time. Managing international locations is easy. Gaston goes to a single management interface and views the international IDS sensors. He can look up events for just one device or all of them together. “I would absolutely recommend both products to other organizations,” Gaston commented.
